I'm not the only one who just endured that winter storm with temperatures below zero, wind chills below minus 30, crippling wind, roads that were solid ice, and utility companies who were doing "rolling black-outs" because they couldn't meet energy demand. And the thought that crossed everyone's...
I'm sure Silverado prices will go up likewise. Materials prices are what they are for everyone making trucks.
Sounds to me like Silverado EV timeline is getting pushed back just a bit. Hmm.......
Unfortunately I buy trucks because I need a truck. I haul and tow frequently.
Recently, a popular truck channel on YouTube has been towing with the F-150 and the "extended range" battery. In one test, they got 80ish miles (!) on a charge. That's just totally impractical for anyone, unless...
If the $40k WT trim comes with 200 miles of range I'm out. That's lower than the F-150 and the F-150 isn't exactly stellar. I think 250 miles would be my minimum for consideration, but I'd really like to see them shoot for 300ish since the upgrade is 400.
To people buying it, that's the beauty of it. When you have the #1 selling motor vehicle in the U.S. for over 40 years it's extremely risky to change it. "If it ain't broke don't fix it" basically. Rivian had nothing to lose because they're an upstart. GM has been turning out the most...
Perhaps, but to get one in a couple of years you have to act right now. That was my point. As of today, no action can be taken on the Ford or Ram offerings for different reasons. GM is the only game in town.
My fear with the Rivian is customer service. Do they have dealerships established? Can you trade in your current vehicle toward a Rivian? Who's going to help you when it breaks down? Can they get parts quickly?
The whole customer support part of the equation is critically important...
Decades? So the last GM you had was prior to the 1980s? If that's the case you'll be shocked at what you find now. When the GMT400 platform was launched in 1988 it was an absolute train wreck. I can't even begin to list all the problems. Pressurized-gas operated front differential actuators...
Mary Barra clearly said there will be multiple options for range, including a "base model" at the $39,990 price point. This implies that the 400-mile range will be optional on WT.
"We will launch a Work Truck model in spring of 2023, offering an expected GM estimated range of at least 400...
I'm in the same boat. ICE pickup trucks have been on roads for a hundred years. They're tried and true. To me, the ONLY reason to switch to EV is if there is financial gain. Period.
If GM, Ford, and Ram can't deliver a pickup for under $50k that has 400 miles of range, equal payload, equal...
