Charging Speed shown and can deduce battery pack size. Interior looks almost finished, exterior is far from done. Check it

The missing minor trim pieces prove to me that this isn't just a photo prop. It's a real truck that somebody is living with. There is even a bed. That's a real-world test. That's pretty exciting. Are test vehicles that come off the assembly line still considered "Pre-production"?

Do these numbers intimate a +220 kW/hr (is that the right measure?) battery pack?

That doesn't look like a "mule" to me. It looks like a Silverado EV with a few trim pieces missing. This is an exciting development. Like I said before, some test person is spending a lot of time in it. It makes me envious. I'd kill to drive one ;).

Based on what is seen here, it will probably be somewhere in the 235-240 kWh range total capacity factoring in charging loss and top and bottom buffer, with maybe 220ish kWh usable. The battery enclosure is slightly larger on the Silverado than the Hummer (per information from the enclosure manufacturer, Magna), and the Hummer has around 212 kWh usable. Of course as more Ultium vehicles are on the road, and GM can analyze data, they may allow more of that buffer to be used, effectively giving the consumer a "bigger" battery with a software update. Rivian just did this with the R1, improving efficiencies and allowing more use of the lower end of the buffer. My truck got about 21 miles more of estimated range.

Very interesting. Thanks for taking the time to capture all of this.

Did you get a chance to chat with the driver?
